About Me

Experience & Approach

Welcome! My name is Ryan Malphrus, and I have been working with individuals providing psychodynamic psychotherapy for over 15 years to collaboratively bring awareness to others inner worlds as a means of improving functioning and overall life satisfaction.

I work in-person and online with older adolescents and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship concerns, trauma, and major life transitions.

Over the past five years, I have developed a special interest in serving men, acknowledging the unique demands, feelings, and challenges they face in today’s society.

Background

I began my career working in special education for over 10 years, which has profoundly shaped my practice and philosophy of psychotherapy.

The remarkable children and adolescents who honored me with their stories have left a lasting impact. I have witnessed transformational growth in those dismissed as “lost causes,” instilling in me a firm belief in the transformative power of psychotherapy.

Supervision & Consultation

Through my career as a psychotherapist, I have also developed an interest in providing supervision and consultation to other clinicians.

There is a scarcity of serious education and ongoing support for those who wish to go beyond the worksheets and simplistic symptom-reduction techniques found in most training programs.

Working with clinicians to provide a solid foundation grounded in experience and theory—enabling them to find their own path without fear of straying too far—has been one of my greatest joys.

If you’re seeking a thoughtful, collaborative approach to psychotherapy, supervision, or training, I invite you to reach out. Let’s explore how we can work together to navigate life’s challenges or enhance your clinical practice.
